Abstract

This paper presents a design of a lab-scale flapping tidal energy harvester. A mathematical model was also built to estimate the dynamics response of the tidal energy harvester. A series of experiments were conducted to validate the mathematical model. The results showed that the mathematical model could be used to estimate the response of the system. The power extracted from the system was also measured and calculated. By using the lab-scale model, we could confirm the feasibility of the mathematical model of the system, which can be used to design an optimal system with higher efficiency in the future.
