Thyristor Time Delay Effect On DC Motor Speed Control Using Digital Compensator

Padmundana Padmundana, Iyas Munawar

Abstract

Digital compensator has been used to compensate DC motor speed control and has been conducted on the microcontroller chip. The DC motor is supplied by half-controlled full wave rectifier. Due to characteristic of thyristor, there is time delay during controlling the rectifier. The time delay is caused by the way of the thyristor to commutate their state. At frequency 50 Hz, the maximum time delay will be 10 millisecond, on real speed control by this method, time
delay is spreading between 1 millisecond to 10 milliseconds. From laboratory experiment, transient response system due to unit step input showing not good performance. Time delay of the thyristor rectifier full wave half-controlled causing the system doesn t have good performance on
transient response.
