Sampled Values Transmission based on Network Protocol Design for Intelligent System

Abstract


With the standardized protocol defined by IEC61850, the need is to implement communication infrastructure for a next generation intelligent system, i.e., Smart-grid, sighting future mapping technique and standardization it’s a challenging task. The details provided in this paper are used to design a Sample Value based Communication protocol, on basis of IEC61850 standard for mapping, considering six Logical Nodes (LNs) with the possibility of further extension. The choice of Sampled Values (SVs) is to attain the critical time requirement of data transmission for CTs (Current Transformers), VTs (Voltage Transformers) and Protective Relaying (PR) of 3 ms without complicating the real-time implementation, processing power and data transmission requirement.
