Design of Patch Antenna with a Triangular Tapered Feed for Tri band Operation

J. B. Jadhav

Abstract

The method for the design of a compact triple band antenna using method of moment based simulation is presented. This antenna is to operate in three resonance frequencies GSM (890-960 MHz), PCA (1850-1990 MHz) and UTMS (1920-2170). Triple band characteristics are achieved by the various notches on the radiating structure. In this present design, centre frequency and band gap between them may be tuned by varying the length and width of the metallic patch of the antenna being designed. The final design of the antenna shows a return loss below -10 dB in all three frequency bands of operation. The present antenna also achieves better impedance matching and radiation patterns at all three operating bands.
