Real time Software-in-the-Loop Simulation for Micro Air Vehicles Using Model Based Design

C Kamali

Abstract

Modeling and simulation plays a key role in Micro Air Vehicle development and its applications. The flight testing becomes efficient if MAV dynamics are captured in the form of real time simulation models. Real-time windows target provides a real-time engine for executing Simulink models on a Microsoft Windows PC and blocks that connect to a range of I/O boards. This paper presents a model based design methodology adopted at NAL for the development of real time software-in-the-loop (SIL) simulation and visualization of control of Black Kite MAV. Implementation is achieved through Simulink based modeling environment and OpenSceneGraph 3D graphics toolkit.
