2011 International Unmanned Flying Car Competition Sponsored by Gyeongnam Provincial Government in Korea

Abstract

This paper presents an introduction on the 2011 International Unmanned Flying Car Competition. Personal Air Vehicle(PAV), so called flying car is a new transport concept including both roadable and flyable functions of cars and aircrafts for the future. Korean Gyongnam provincial government with aid of Techno-park is sponsoring “International Unmanned Flying Car Competition” with total cash prize of about $40,000. From 23rd to 25th September 2011 the 2nd International Unmanned Flying Car Competition K-PAV2011 will be held in Sacheon, Korea. The competition comprises of two types of configuration such as “CTOL+Roadable” and “VTOL+Roadable”. The mission of the competition is suggested based on a scenario for a full scaled PAV. The detailed rules including types of flying car, weight and size constraints, control method, power source requirement, and missions in ground and air and so on are described.
