Robotic Systems for Underground Fiber Optic Cable Installation

Muhammad Riza

Abstract

The installation of underground fiber optic cables is a labor-intensive and costly process, often complicated by difficult terrain and urban environments. This paper explores the use of robotic systems to automate the installation of fiber optic cables, focusing on the technical innovations that make these systems suitable for diverse underground conditions. Robotic systems equipped with advanced sensors and AI navigation capabilities can perform excavation, cable laying, and inspection tasks autonomously, reducing human error and increasing installation speed. Case studies highlight how robotics has been successfully integrated into underground fiber optic infrastructure projects, leading to faster deployments and reduced costs.
