Swarm Robot Flocking Assisted by Explicit Communication

Bayu Erfianto, Riyanto Bambang

Abstract

Flock-like motion has been used in swarm robotics to make a formation of mobile robots involved in swarm such as to mimic crowd and movement in swarm behavior. The originality of this paper is to propose flock-like motion in swarm robotics guided by explicit communication broadcasted by robot agents via wireless network. The objective of this paper is the effect of explicit communication in flocking behavior and analyze the ratio of broadcasted message to the flock action. To achieve the objective, a simulation has been carried out and the results have been presented.
