Intelligent Crosswalk Traffic lights using Fuzzy Ladder Control System

Songkran Kantawong

Abstract

Intelligent crosswalk traffic light is a less studied field even though it provided user with very valuable information about traffic rules and road profile in order to make traffic systems that balance safety, road users, environmental and public transport. This paper studied the intelligent crosswalk pedestrian traffic lights control system that applies for both general road users and especially with blind man who want to cross the road with higher safety and convenience in order to solve the big problems of high accidents in the metropolitans’ area. The algorithm take an advantage of traffic lights controlled which their profiles are very valuable for relatively driving characteristic and crosswalk pedestrian functions controlled by programmable logic controller (PLC) with fuzzy ladder methods. Some results from road model are shown that system performance can work well and is valid to detect other kinds of road profiles that would set the PLC to perform some task at that place.
