Octorotor UAV for Visual Target Tracking

Riyanto Bambang

Abstract

This paper presents the design of UAV platform, including navigation, flight controller, and computer vision system for visual target tracking purpose. Platform is designed to have more payload capability, since we installed an onboard embedded PC for computer vision system, with increase in robustness using 8 propellers. Navigation and flight controller are design to accomplish autonomous flight in waypoint navigation or vision based navigation. A onboard computer vision system is also installed for visual target tracking. The UAV communicates with ground station for receiving waypoint coordinates and monitoring purpose, using wireless communication.
