Rotor Load Measurements and Stabilization in Tethered Hover of a Mini-Helicopter

Abstract


This paper presents experimental studies carried out in the development of an autonomous mini-helicopter. The focus of this paper is divided along the following major directions:
(i) Rotor load measurements and correlation of experimental data with theoretical prediction.
(ii) Development of control algorithm for rpm, pitchroll-yaw degrees of freedom in a test rig.
(iii) Integration of the control algorithms in a flying vehicle to demonstrate autonomous capability under tethered hover.
