A Micro AirVehicle with a 'Space wing'

This paper presents our proposal of 'Space wing'. The 'Space wing' is composed of some square plates. The distances between the square plates are varied according to a flight condition. At a flight where high efficiency is required, the distances are 0 and the characteristic of the wing is that of the wing with an aspect ratio equal to the number of square plates. On the other hand, at a flight in a gust, the distance is not 0 and the characteristic of the wing is close to that of a square. The ‘Space wing’ enhances a flight stability of a MAV. The enhanced stability will increase opportunities we can utilize a MAV.
