Kaledupa: A small UUV for underwater surveillance mission

Nico Prayogo, Agus Budiyono

Abstract

This paper presents the design, development, and performance evaluation of a small Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) specifically designed for underwater surveillance missions. The increasing need for effective and efficient underwater surveillance has driven the demand for compact and versatile UUVs capable of autonomously gathering valuable data in challenging underwater environments. The proposed UUV addresses these requirements by incorporating advanced sensing and navigation capabilities within a small-sized platform. The design process involves the selection of appropriate materials, sensors, and propulsion systems to optimize the UUV's maneuverability and endurance. The UUV's control architecture utilizes state-of-the-art algorithms for autonomous navigation, obstacle avoidance, and target tracking. Performance evaluation tests were conducted in real-world underwater scenarios, and the results demonstrate the UUV's ability to effectively collect and transmit valuable surveillance data. The compact size and maneuverability of the UUV make it suitable for a wide range of applications, including underwater infrastructure inspections, environmental monitoring, and security operations. The findings of this research contribute to the ongoing development of small UUVs for underwater surveillance, advancing the field of underwater robotics and enabling more efficient and cost-effective underwater surveillance missions.
